Shunra Integrates with HP

Shunra Software’s powerful WAN emulation and testing capabilities have been integrated into newly released versions of HP LoadRunner and HP Performance Center.

According to company officials, this completely automatic integration doesn’t require any script editing.

Shunra’s (News - Alert) VE Desktop for HP Software performs a number of functions such as pulling in network statistics automatically from load generators, emulating a wide area network (WAN) and reporting real world network conditions during load testing.

ShunraVE Desktop for HP Software is a WAN emulation solution that seamlessly fits into existing HP Performance Center processes. The integrated solution has the ability to transform a LAN-based load testing environment into a real world production environment.

The companies emphasize that this transformation from LAN to WAN is critical for quality assurance of apps that are required to perform over wide area networks. Early testing over an emulated wide area network allows IT professionals to address a number of problems such as chatty applications, and caching inefficiencies.

Thomas Charlton (News - Alert), CEO of Shunra Software explained that there was a need of an easy and accurate way to anticipate application performance on the network, and their developers have aimed to address this demand.

It is easy to fix problems if they’re caught early in the application lifecycle, and their collaboration with HP represents an accurate way to predict how an application will perform on a wide area network before rollout.

“Before there was just hope, now there's insight, control and proof that it will perform. This is a complete paradigm shift in how applications are tested,” he added.

Thanks to ShunraVE Desktop for HP Software, each load generator can simulate a different network location. Moreover, the statistics are automatically captured, sorted and analyzed based on location.

The integrated solution eliminates the need for remotely deployed load generators and gives software testing professionals, access to a complete network landscape. A faster insight into potential application performance issues enables error resolution to application and network issues to occur long before application rollout and end user impact.

“The integration of Shunra's VE Desktop network emulation with HP LoadRunner and HP Performance Center testing products helps customers optimize the performance of their applications to meet the needs of the business,” noted Subbu Iyer, senior director of Products, Software and Solutions, HP.
