ePDUs Now Supports IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager V4.1

Eaton Corporation, a company focused on power distribution, power quality, control and industrial automation products and services, has announced that its ePDUs is now compatible with IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager V4.1.

IBM (News - Alert) Systems Director Active Energy Manager Version 4.1 is known for measuring, monitoring, and managing the energy components built into IBM systems enabling a cross-platform management solution.

And now with the compatibility option between Eaton (News - Alert) ePDUs and IBM Active Manager helps users to keep track of the actual power consumed within data centers, using autonomic capabilities to track energy consumption across multiple platforms. It also offers power-trending support for older systems, low- and mid-range storage devices and non-IBM systems.

Michael Camesano, Eaton product manager said, “By providing access to accurate, detailed information on power usage, Information Technology (IT) and facility managers can manage data centers for optimal energy efficiency, migrating workloads to eliminate hot spots or transferring work from underutilized systems to conserve energy,” said Michael Camesano, Eaton product manager.

IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager V4.1 is compatible with other Eaton ePDUs, including Monitored ePDUs, Switched ePDUs and Eaton remote power panel (RPP) models with a Power Xpert Gateway (News - Alert) Series 1000 card.

Eaton’s ePDUs balances uninterruptible power systems (UPSs) by distributing power to up to 24 or 45 receptacles in high-density rack environments or other applications requiring conditioned power distribution. It also provides a tiered set of PDU product families along two dimensions—power capacity and functionality. Eaton ePDUs allow users to select the precise combination of features and power ratings needed for specific applications.

“The detailed power information provided by Eaton’s ePDUs helps customers solve a wide range of energy-related issues in their data centers,” said Camesano. “This information is instrumental in identifying underutilized or energy-wasting servers, hone in on hot spots or overburdened loads and even pinpoint racks with available power capacity to support additional IT equipment.”

Eaton’s global electrical product lines includes Cutler-Hammer, Moeller, Powerware (News - Alert), Holec, MEM, Santak, and MGE Office Protection Systems provide customer-driven PowerChain Management  solutions to serve the power system needs of the data center, industrial, institutional, government, utility, commercial, residential, and OEM markets worldwide.

According to EATON, its ePDU's are designed to meet global safety standards. These units are engineered with rugged construction, have flexible mounting options, and multiple features ensuring the highest quality and customer satisfaction.
