Tech Data Corporation Establishes Cisco Solutions Group

Looking to support its entire solutions offering from Cisco Systems, Tech Data’s Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (AIS) has established the Cisco (News - Alert) Solutions Group. Now, the value-added resellers (VARs) of the company will have the backing of the data center technologies expertise and solutions-oriented sales support of AIS.
 
Over the past few years, some data centers have aimed to be completely virtual by integrating various elements such as processing, storage and networking. Many players in the market are fast realizing that the server virtualization is the next emerging trend in the market as the companies look to improved virtual data center environment for seamless data management.
 
The Cisco Solutions Group is part of AIS and is comprised of specially trained Cisco experts. The Cisco Solutions Group will include inside and field sales professionals, systems engineers, as well as business development, channel marketing and product management specialist.
 
“As the market moves forward with solutions like storage virtualization, virtual desktops, hosted software applications and remote IT services, the network becomes a critical component of the data center,” said Chuck Bartlett, Tech Data (News - Alert) vice president, Cisco Solutions Group. “This new and complex computing landscape presents great opportunity for Cisco VARs. Cisco will surely be a leader in the converged networking and data center space.”
 
Bartlett, who joined Tech Data in 2006 as vice president, Networking Product Marketing will lead the new unit. Under his leadership, the Cisco Solutions Group supports VARs deploying all Cisco solutions, including traditional networking, indoor and outdoor wireless, unified communications and security. It will also provide Cisco VARs the channel’s a wide variety of services and support. Tech Data’s CapacityBuilder educates Cisco VARs on how its extensive services offering will assist them to increase billable hours, enhance profits and streamline operations.
 
Recently, Tech Data entered into a distribution agreement with Fonality to sell its open source, Hybrid-Hosted solutions for small and medium businesses (SMBs). According to the agreement, the resellers of Tech Data will get Fonality’s (News - Alert) open source, Hybrid-Hosted solutions through Tech Data’s Telephony Specialized Business Unit (SBU).
