The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (
FCO) has selected Logica, along with its partners
De La Rue and
WorldReach Software, to launch internationally recognized Emergency Travel Documents (ETDs). The program looks to facilitate secure and easier cross border travel for U.K. citizens in distress and it is called BRIDGE (British Identity Document Generating Equipment).
As people who travel from country to country, governments are faced with the challenge of updating passport issuance procedures to keep up with the increase in traveling. To facilitate the process of issuing passports and ensure security in the entire process, many governments are choosing technology companies such as a Logica.
Under the terms of this contract, Logica’s primary responsibility will be to ensure that the ETDs will be secure and in accordance with FCO policy and procedure. The company plans to introduce a robust workflow system to manage and simplify the issuing process to achieve this goal.
Juanita Taliadouros, managing director of Logica’s public sector business said: “At Logica, we identified security as one of the high growth areas for the company and this win is clearly a step forward in our growth strategy. Logica, WorldReach Software and De La Rue are delighted to be working together with the FCO to better serve travelers and U.K. citizens living abroad.”
The new system, designed by Logica, will get PassportReach software WorldReach Software. This enables FCO to provide unique consular environments supporting all phases of secure document issuance abroad. To design and print the new secure emergency travel document, Logica has chosen its partner De La Rue. Ensuring the global acceptance of the travel document, the new ETD will comply with latest International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
