SunGard Upgrades its North American Workforce Continuity Services Centers

SunGard Availability Services has deployed a new desktop technology in all its workforce continuity services centers in North America. This deployment is in line with SunGard’s commitment to enhance the performance and satisfy the computing needs of its business customers.

SunGard installed over 5,900 new Hewlett Packard PCs in 29 of its workforce continuity services facilities and also in 41 mobile recovery units in North America. This upgrade offers new capabilities like increased processor speeds and memory besides giving the ability to support several software applications necessary for customers in their respective businesses.

The configuration for the desktop PC architecture is consistent throughout the workforce continuity services facilities. This provided customers a common platform which is useful in case of an outage or while supporting business users located remotely from multiple SunGard locations. SunGard also provided an imaging service for simplifying and reducing desktop PC recovery times. This enables customers to restore many desktop PCs easily.

The Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) and Voicemail systems were refreshed fully so that a uniform software version was deployed at all SunGard locations. This enables organizations to make their call center capabilities faster and efficient.

Organizations which need alternative workspace, telecommunications capabilities and IT resources to facilitate their workforce and business processes when a problem occurs can avail of SunGard’s workforce continuity services facilities.

“SunGard’s deployment of new desktop PC technology throughout our North American workforce continuity services facilities demonstrates continued commitment to providing the latest technology that addresses the performance and computing needs of today’s businesses,” said Kim Stratsky, director, product management, SunGard Availability Services.

“By leveraging our facilities and global network backbone, organizations have access to a single source for equipment, services and support needed to help ensure their IT and network resources is recoverable. Customers can now have the resources, workspace and equipment needed to remain productive and connected to critical business information and applications when the unexpected occurs,” he explained.

SunGard’s Availability Services includes disaster recovery services, managed IT services, information availability consulting services and business continuity management software. SunGard enables IT organizations in industry and government sectors to prepare for and recover fast when a disaster occurs. This helps minimize their computer downtime and optimizes their uptime.
