Kell Systems claims to offer a compact computer room as an alternative for small offices with its ComputerVault Mini. Kell Systems has worked on the design and manufacture of Portable Server Environments (PSEs), a complete solution for deployment of servers and network hardware directly in the office workplace. Kell PSE and BladeVault product lines are stated to be a new concept and a very real, self-contained alternative to building computer rooms.
The advantage for small businesses from the ComputerVault Mini is that it offers provisions to deploy servers and network hardware in the available workspace itself by making use of extreme noise reduction and high thermal capacity. Thus, offices wouldn’t need an extra computer room to install servers anymore.
Kell Systems ComputerVault Mini is specifically designed to house a complete small-office IT installation comprised of one or two servers, network hardware and peripheral devices. It accepts tower form factor servers or can be converted to accept rack form factor servers using Kell's model PSEMR 4-post, 12U rack mount conversion kit.
It supports thermal loads of up to 800 Watts, yet consumes only 60 Watts itself and is compatible with modern servers such as HP ProLiant ML100/ML300 series, Dell PowerEdge 1900/2900 and IBM (

The solution also hosts additional installer friendly features making it easily deployable and the cabinet’s office-quality appearance blends seamlessly into any workspace environment. Company officials add that ComputerVault Mini has little or no adverse effect to server operating temperatures compared to running the equipment in free space, yet it reduces server noise to such an extent that it goes unnoticed in daily use, even when working close by.
"With server manufacturers rapidly driving down power consumption and heat emissions, with onboard terabyte storage widely available and with virtualization becoming best practice, computer rooms are simply not needed anymore in many small offices," commented Kell Systems CEO, Tim Walsh. "Only a few years ago, it took an air-conditioned computer room with a couple of racks inside to provide IT service levels that can now be supplied by a couple of high-spec servers.”
He added, “ComputerVault MiniTM lets small businesses reclaim that computer room space by moving their IT installation into the open office, eliminating all of the barriers such as server noise, security, power distribution and physical appearance, in a compact and elegant package that can even fit under a standard desk".
