CompTIA Unveils New Business Management Education Tools

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA (News - Alert)) has released a new business management education module aimed at helping technology solution providers.

CompTIA, which is dedicated to advancing industry growth through its educational programs, market research, networking events, professional certifications and public policy advocacy, says that the new learning module provides foundational, actionable business management content through a delivery vehicle which is convenient and efficient for busy technology company owners and executives.

Content for the CompTIA University POBI learning modules was developed in partnership with Professor Martin Lattman, president of QRG, Inc., who has over a decade long history in the technology channel and has speaking and faculty experience with the American Management Association and the John Hopkins University Carey School of Business.

The introductory CompTIA POBI module, "Customer Cost-to-Serve: Understanding Customer Profitability" helps technology solution providers gain a better understanding of which customers represent a profit for them and which do not.

"With this information, solution providers can make more informed decisions on resource allocation, terms and conditions for service and support policies, market focus, pricing, services to offer, and other issues that affect profitability," said Kim Santaniello, vice president, member education at CompTIA.

Unversity intends to release new modules in the future which will include "Get Those Lingering Opportunities to Close" and "Savvy Vendor Selection: Making the Right Choice for Your Business."

“These modules are a great way to obtain educational content on demand," said Brian Gregory, president, Network Innovations, Inc. and a member of the CompTIA Solution Provider Education Committee. "Solution providers are very busy and it's important to be able to utilize educational offerings at their convenience rather than on a fixed schedule. The ability to return and review months later is a plus as well."

Modules can be accessed from anywhere via an Internet connection which does not take more than 30 minutes to complete. The CompTIA POBI Learning Modules include a brief pre-assessment to send the learner down a thought path; one or more useful tools and templates; and a post-module assessment to gauge understanding of the material.
CompTIA University says that it is committed to provide educational opportunities for Solution Providers to ensure business success, on topics ranging from Business Planning and Human Resources to Sales and Customer Service.
