Bull, Cassatt Team to Improve Data Center Infrastructures of European Companies

Bull and Cassatt have announced a business and technology cooperation aimed at improving the effectiveness of data center infrastructures of Europe-based companies, in selected lines of business such as government and local authorities, telecommunications, finance, retail, utilities, and manufacturing.

 

As per the terms of the agreement, Bull will become a “privileged” distributor in Europe and other selected geographies for Cassatt's suite of software products to make data centers more efficient.

 

The companies said that they plan to initiate a technology collaboration to optimize the Cassatt software suite on Bull's NovaScale and Escala server ranges. Also, the companies are expected to define a roadmap to expand the joint value proposal in the area of data center automation.

 

As part of the Bio Data Center initiative, Bull will market Cassatt software suite. The initiative aims to provide customers with new approaches for operating their data centers. It focuses on key aspects such as overall quality of operational processes, architectural topology, and power consumption.

 

Bruno Pinna, Bull marketing director, said that Bull announced a year ago its Bio Data Center initiative to help customers cope with the “unprecedented” performance demand that is requested out of their data centers.

 

“The partnership announced with Cassatt today reflects our ambition to provide the necessary solutions to reach this objective,” said Pinna.

 

Cassatt’s focus on providing operational efficiency via policy-based management software, controlling diverse components of IT infrastructure, with the ability to provide cloud computing-style benefits using company’s existing data center resources.

 

In order to help customers better manage their data centers, Bull and Cassatt are expected to provide European organizations a starting point—active power management. This approach, both the companies believe, will allows large data center operators to automatically power off their unused servers based on policies they set.

 

Bull said that it will distribute the Cassatt software solutions on its own NovaScale and Escala servers, and also on non-Bull server hardware. In addition, it will provide full life-cycle services to assess the current status of data centers, define optimization strategies, and implement power management and more.

 

"The partnership with Bull addresses the strategic objective of Cassatt to distribute Cassatt's technology to a growing number of customers and markets,” said Heidi Larsen, director of worldwide strategic alliances at Cassatt.

 

Larsen expects the combination of Cassatt’s software solutions with Bull hardware and infrastructure services to provide a global solution that can enable customers to operate their data centers efficiently and effectively.
