PlumChoice Launches On-Screen Alert for PCs

PlumChoice, a provider of remote technical services for home, home office and small businesses, said it has added a set of remote PC support capabilities to its SAFElink Enterprise platform to help customers in emergencies. The new capabilities include on-screen alerts about critical security, backup and disk health problems, along with instant technician assistance.

The platform allows retailers, telcos, cable service providers, Internet service providers (ISPs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), independent software vendors (ISVs), warranty service providers and traditional contact centers to outsource their customer support needs on a white label or co-branded basis.

SAFElink Enterprise service eliminates the time, effort and expense required to build and maintain an in-house support infrastructure while still retaining the service provider’s branding, according to PlumChoice.

The PlumChoice SAFElink platform can now display on-screen alerts that warn users about changes in their virus and spyware protection, protect a customer’s data by providing timely backup status, and alert users to changes in a computer’s disk health such as high fragmentation levels, low free disk space, and hard disk error conditions.

The SAFElink platform also contains standard interfaces to allow integration with OEM partners’ software for additional trouble scenario alerting. Each alert can trigger an immediate callback or email from a technician, according to user’s preference.

Additionally, there are service appointment reminders to prevent fees for cancelled service calls. These alerts are color-coded according to the level of severity. The company said it would add new alerts for other trouble conditions in the future.

All alerts are issued through SAFElink Desktop, an agent installed on the user’s computer. The SAFElink Desktop agent provides one-click access to PlumChoice technical support services as well as the interface and delivery mechanism for the new alert system, the company said.

“The new on-screen alert system built into our SAFElink platform enables OEMs, retailers and other service providers to proactively assist computer owners in keeping their machines in good working order,” said Fred King, vice president of sales and marketing at PlumChoice, in a statement. “This, in turn, helps minimize product returns, increase customer satisfaction, improve referrals, and drive up-sell opportunities along with incremental revenues.”
