U.S. Army Selects AT&T Government Solutions for Network Upgrade

To protect and serve, the U.S. military is continuously reaching out in an effort to update and transform their infrastructure to better serve the nation. Most recently, the United States Army selected the AT&T Government Solutions business unit to build an advanced data network to extend the Global Information (News - Alert) Grid (GIG) and service Army operations in Germany. The value of the award is worth approximately $23 million.

 

"When a government organization needs to upgrade its global systems infrastructure, it requires a proven solutions provider that has the resources necessary to help them do so," said Don Herring, senior vice president, AT&T (News - Alert) Government Solutions. "AT&T Government Solutions will deploy a data network that provides the reliability, scalability and security necessary for the Army to take advantage of new technologies while minimizing operational expenses."

 

Under contract, AT&T Government Solutions will deploy a data network solution for the U.S. Army installation located at Grafenwoehr, Germany, home of the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Center (JMTC), which is considered to be the Army's premier overseas training area.

 

Additional outside plant construction and an extension of the data network for the Rose Barracks based in Vilseck, Germany, which is close to Grafenwoehr will be performed by AT&T Government Solutions as well. For added support, AT&T Government Solutions will deliver outside plant construction services and install and test the data network for Army personnel at 600 JMTC buildings.
