Enterasys and
Siemens Enterprise Communications (

Alert) recently announced its placement in the Wireless (Local Area Network) LAN Infrastructure 2008 report by
Gartner Magic Quadrant. The company was positioned in the visionaries’ quadrant of this report which was published on the 26th of November 2008.
Enterasys’ and Siemens’ (

WLAN networks. With an Open Communications approach it makes wireless mobility practical and cost-effective while avoiding forklift upgrades. While the whole integrated wired and wireless security suite is inclusive of embedded wireless intrusion prevention and location-based services, the newly integrated management software provides better network management efficiency and wired/wireless infrastructure topology mapping along with end-to-end visibility of wireless access points, controllers and wireless clients.
"We are pleased by our positioning in Gartner's (

"Capital savings can result from competing the combined wired and wireless business between multiple vendors in a challenging economic environment. Our integrated switching, management software and security across wired and wireless networks enable IT (information technology) to complete their projects on-time within the constraints of a reduced budget," Crowell said.
The report produced by Gartner evaluated companies and vendors on the basis of their executive abilities in different aspects like overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness and track record, products, marketing execution and customer experience among others. Consecutively, it also evaluated a vendor’s overall vision in terms of its product strategy, business model, market understanding, marketing strategy and innovation among various other criteria.
"A vendor in the Visionaries quadrant demonstrates an ability to increase features in its offering to provide a unique and differentiated approach to the market. A visionary will have innovated in one or more of the key areas of WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) technologies. Differences in WLAN architecture, enhanced security and management features separate the offerings from each vendor," the report stated. "Although WLAN vendors continue to innovate more rapidly on the technology front, the traditional wired infrastructure vendors are marketing increasingly compelling arguments for combined application services such as management of wired and wireless networks," the report continued.
