GL Announces Hardware and Software Enhancements to T1 E1 Analysis Product Line

GL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of telecommunication products and consulting, announced that it has enhanced its T1E1 analyzer product line and as well as its software version 5.13.

The company’s T1/E1 analysis product portfolio contains both hardware platforms and software platforms, and as well as hand portable test equipments.

GL’s already present ULTRA T1 (E1) is a third-generation product that utilizes computer user interfaces and provides a comprehensive T1 (T-carrier or DS0) or E1 testing capability. The card transforms a user’s PC into a sophisticated T1 or E1 analyzer. The current version of the card is PCI (peripheral component interconnect) and features in-service monitoring of T1 (E1) circuit connections, including 64-Kbps channels within a T1 or E1. It can be used for routine testing of errors, signals, and timing.

With the inclusion of the new ‘Universal T1 E1 Analyzer’ to its hardware test suite, GL facilitates users to easily switch between T1 and E1 interface testing by simply plugging into PCI 2.1 compliant slots (5 V or 3.3 V PCI bus). These universal boards are capable of interfacing both T1 and E1- on a single board and have adjustable transmit clock frequency for testing frequency lock sensitivity of T1 or E1 equipment.

It has added two new port modes to the Universal T1 E1 Board: cross-port loopback and thru mode. The cross-port loopback mode is the default mode of the hardware whenever the board is powered up or down. This mode allows transmission of signals from Card 1 (Port 1) to Card 2 (Port 2) and vice-versa. This feature also enables user to monitor T1 / E1 lines "in-line" while still being protected from loss of power to the board. The thru mode facilitates in eliminating complex cabling and is particularly useful for Drop and Insert applications in which the board analyzes and may insert traffic running between two pieces of T1/E1 equipment, says company.

The company also added pulse mask display to the Universal T1 E1 board. The incoming pulses are tested for compliance against T1 or E1 standard pulse mask that are specified by the ITU G.703 standard and ANSI T1.102-1993.

In addition, GL plans to add jitter measurement and a generation feature to its Universal T1 E1 Board. Jitter can be measured in the incoming T1 E1 signal and jitter can as well be introduced onto the outgoing T1 E1 signal.

There were other new software introduced by GL, including WCS ISDN Emulator, and WCS Pulse Mask. Both the products are Client-Server applications. The ISDN (integrated services digital network) emulator is used for performing complete ISDN switch and subscriber emulation. The WCS Pulse (News - Alert) Mask is used for detection, monitoring, and plotting of transmitted pulses. It includes Monitor Pulse Mask and Pulse Mask Display modules, which can be controlled remotely using simple commands by client applications.

GL also announced enhancements to some of its other applications, including Protocol Analyzers, Trau Toolbox and Analysis, Multi-class ML-PPP Emulator, and Windows Client Server.
