NCP Secure Enterprise Client Upgraded for PCs and Handheld Devices

NCP engineering GmbH has introduced the 9.1 version of the NCP Secure Enterprise Client, which will be available in North America from December 5th. This will be a major upgrade to NCP’s universal IPSec VPN client which will offer a flexible, intuitive, bundled client for all Windows-based (Mobile, CE, XS/Vista/32/64-bit) or Symbian (News - Alert) systems (S60 3rd Edition).

The Client will be seamlessly compatible with all IPSec gateways available in the market said NCP engineering. The bundled solution includes a dynamic personal firewall, intuitive and user-friendly GUI, data encryption, Friendly Net Detection, and one-time password token and certificate support through a public key infrastructure (PKI).

The solution can be integrated with a network access control (NAC) component for offering higher levels of security in accessing central data networks. VPN support of WISPr is a hotspot login protocol in North America, allowing devices to connect to a hotspot without logging in via an Internet browser. The device can access any application on a device through the VPN, ensuring that network integration is faster.

It also offers Multiple Certificate Support, enabling mobile workers to connect to numerous VPNs which need certification to authorize the device to the network. This function stores and configures the single VPN client, increasing the log on speeds and simplifying VPN access.

In addition, the NCP client offers Streamlined Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Card Support. This helps in a scenario where 3G wireless connection speeds for laptops is increasing through carriers like AT&T (News - Alert). The UMTS card support helps the client to maintain a VPN when idle and during standby periods in case a connection is lost. The ‘wake time’ for a laptop increases thanks to this feature.

The Budget Manager for Wireless Minutes helps network administrators and users monitor the costs of VPN connection types like UMTS, GPRS, and WLAN and also fix limits on device airtime or cost. Depending on basic provider rates, users can configure dollar or minute budgets. If the set limits are exceeded, warning notices will be dispatched to users or their VPN connections will be disturbed. The new component allows restraining and disabling roaming, as well.

The NCP Secure Enterprise Client offers a major update with the Push/Manage Software Updates via LAN Connection. This allows network administrators to push and manage NCP software updates, configurations and certificates to any device on the network employing the NCP client with or without a VPN connection.

Germany-based NCP provides application and industry-neutral communication software for enabling secure data transmission in public networks and the Internet. The company specializes in areas of Remote Access, IP-Routing, VPN and Firewall Technologies, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Network Access Control (NAC) as well as strong Authentication and Integration of PKI-Infrastructures.
