Appian, a vendor of business process management technology, has announced new customer wins secured in the third quarter of 2008. Appian officials say they continue to see “increasing demand” for the company’s Appian Enterprise BPM Suite “across a wide range of commercial markets in the U.S. and Europe, as well as in the federal government.”
In both 2006 and 2007, Appian’s new customer acquisition rate reportedly exceeded 160 percent. Based on 2008 performance through Q3, company officials say, the company is on track to “significantly” increase that rate: “In Europe alone, Appian has already seen a customer order increase of 318 percent for the first half of 2008 over the same period in 2007.
In late October
TMC had the news that Appian announced the appointments of two enterprise technology industry executives to the Appian Board of Directors -- Jack Biddle, Co-Founder and General Partner at Novak Biddle Venture Partners, and Michael J. Mulligan, former Chairman and CEO of MapQuest.
The announcement follows Appian's recent $10 million venture funding round, led by Novak Biddle.
Among the commercial market customer wins in Q3 are Benenden Healthcare, a U.K.-based non-profit providing members medical treatment, and Exelixis, a biotechnology company dedicated to the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other serious diseases.
They also counted Hendrickson USA, a supplier of truck, tractor, bus and recreational vehicle suspensions as a new customer, along with Territory Insurance Office, which sells insurance and banking services to Australia’s Northern Territory.
On the federal side they chalked up the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for United States Attorneys and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as customers.
“Commercial and government organizations are doing everything they can to increase efficiency and reduce costs, while increasing their ability to react quickly and nimbly to changes in market dynamics,” said Matthew Calkins, president and CEO of Appian.
Appian is backed by the premier venture firm Novak Biddle Venture Partners, and is headquartered in the Washington D.C. region.
