Optima's Electronic Desk Systems

Mention the phrase “modular components” in connection with mobile, industrial and laboratory environments, and one is liable to think of various types of electronic enclosures, enclosure systems, server racks, cabinets, security consoles, vertical racks, and telecom enclosures. One forgets that electronic desk systems fit into the overall schema of packaging systems, and they can even provide an integrated style or “look” in the bargain.

As it happens, Optima EPS has been designing, manufacturing, and distributing quality electronic desk systems based on extruded aluminum construction, along with many other kinds of enclosure systems, racks, cabinets, etc., since its founding by Scientific-Atlanta (News - Alert) in 1962. In 1986, Optima joined Gichner Systems Group (of Dallastown, Pennsylvania), one of the world's leading manufacturers of transportable military shelter systems. On April 1, 2004, Optima was acquired by Elma Electronic (News - Alert). Today, Optima serves electronic and communications original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) throughout North America from its headquarters near Atlanta, Georgia.

Optima Desk Systems are part of Optima’s extensive packaging system for various environments and applications. With its modular design of components and accessories, packaging costs are reduced. This includes shelves, pedestals, wedges, slat wall mountings, flat panels, power and cooling components, and more. EMI/Shielded and unshielded cabinets, desks, and cases can all be combined while maintaining a clean, uniform appearance.

The modular desk system from Optima features standard sizes in 28-inch, 50-inch and 72-inch widths (28 inches high x 32 inches deep). Desks are available in standalone or multiple configurations. With a wide range of options and accessories, a customized solution from standard components can be design in a large number of configurations. A wide range of standard desktop laminates and cabinet colors allow for the final custom touch (custom color matching is available).

Optima’s other interesting related products include an electronic cabinet line with a product mix of EMC (News - Alert), NEMA, Mil/Aero, Co-location, and Server cabinets (for example, the desks are available with an integrated 19-inch rack mount cabinet). The cabinets feature a broad product range, rugged extruded aluminum construction, and an aesthetic contemporary design.
