United Carrier Networks (UCN (News - Alert)) recently revealed its latest report on the financial results for the third quarter of 2008 ending on 30 September 2008. UCN is a provider of a consolidated set of contact center solutions and recently held a conference where results of the reported where discussed.
According to the report, revenue in the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) segment, when compared to the same in the third quarter of 2007 has increased by almost 31 percent reaching $5 million in the third quarter of 2008. The report also revealed that while the aggregate SaaS revenue in the first nine months of 2007 was $9.5 million, it showed a 47 percent increase in 2008 with revenues of $13.9 million.
While Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for quarter three, 2008 showed an improvement of $1.4 million compared to a negative $1.3 million in quarter two, the consolidated revenues in quarter three was $19.8 million in 2008 as against $19.6 million in 2007.
Another revelation by the report was that the telecom segment revenue was relatively steady at $14.8 million in the third quarter when compared to the same in the second. Also, the report showed an improvement of 1.2 percentage points in the costs of revenue at 68.3 percent in the third quarter.
“The investments we have made in our people and processes over the past year delivered strong results in the third quarter," said Paul Jarman, UCN chief executive officer. "All of our key financial indicators showed improvement, and we achieved a substantial productivity gain per sales person and a significant reduction in our implementation time for new accounts. The company is on track for producing similar results in Q4. We expect to continue to benefit from the overall expansion of the SaaS market, which is being driven by companies needing to conserve cash and consolidate their labor force. InContact enables our customers to achieve these business goals, while improving customer loyalty through superior customer service," Jarman added.
An announcement UCN made along with the report’s results was that it has gained a shareholder approval to change its name to inContact on the January 1, 2009 and that its common stock will be traded under the SAAS symbol.
