Alert), Excelcomindo is successfully addressing the service quality needs of customers while they transform and integrate their business and IT.
Although Indonesia is a lucrative market for telcos, operators are concerned about the decreasing consumer expenditure and entry of new players in the
Indonesian mobile market. Excelcomindo, the third largest telco in Indonesia, aims for the top slot in this market and seeks to be well equipped to meet customers' communications needs anytime, anywhere.
The company realized that in order to achieve these targets, they needed an integrated and comprehensive network fault and performance management system. Excelcomindo expected this system to help their staff proactively detect network problems and understand the real time performance of its multi-vendor network infrastructure.
By using IBM's Service Management solution, Excelcomindo will be able to predict important trends such as cell utilization that will help them enhance their service quality, network planning and reduce operating costs. The solution will also provide them with a wider view of their assets and applications, explained officials.

Excelcomindo picked IBM following a comprehensive review at the end of 2007, and found their Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool Performance Manager suitable for its wireless network management initiative. IBM claims, this application allows customers to manage multi-vendor network technologies without having to re-engineer their management system.
IBM and Business Partners, Fastwire and Niaga Prima Paramita worked together on Excelcomindo project to deploy the fault and performance management system. The system was reportedly based on IBM Tivoli Netcool software that has the ability to detect and filter faults, and also automate the isolation and resolution of problems.
“IBM is deeply committed to helping growing businesses like Excelcomindo realize and take advantage of the benefits of such network performance solutions,” said Kustiawan Kusumo, country manager, IBM Software Group. We look forward to continuing this collaboration with Excelcomindo to fuel their drive towards industry leadership in Indonesia,”
