Agilysys Now Authorized Reseller for Evolution Robotics Retail's LaneHawk System
By Cleveland-based Agilysys, a provider of IT solutions to corporate and public-sector customers, has signed a partnership agreement with Evolution Robotics Retail, a provider of object recognition systems for the retail market.
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Agilysys will be an authorized reseller and implementation partner for Evolution Robotics Retail’s loss-prevention product, LaneHawk that facilitate retailers in combating bottom-of-basket (BOB) losses into profits - in real time.
LaneHawk is visual scanner that offers a practical approach to loss prevention. The solution can detect and recognize items without having to read a product's Universal Product Code (UPC).
LaneHawk visual scanner scans and sends the UPC information of a detected/recognized BOB item (on the bottom of a shopping cart) - to the point-of-sale (POS) system via an Ethernet connection, thereby ensuring that stores get paid for their BOB items.
Some of the key features and befits of LaneHawk include: facilitates in Rapid ROI and reduces shrink; tighter business controls – by capturing transaction data and BOB images, in order to allow thorough reporting on what is going through the checkout lanes under the cart; real-time integration with existing POS systems; and improves checkout lane productivity.
The LaneHawk system leverages on Evolution Robotics Retail's patented ViPR (visual pattern recognition) technology for object recognition. With this technology the solution can automatically detect and identify specific items on the bottom of the cart from a predefined list of items that were created and customized earlier.
The LaneHawk system incorporates an intelligent lighting and camera unit (iLCU), an Ethernet cable, and mounting hardware for each lane. The system also consists of a LaneHawk back office server that processes grocery items and is integrated with the store's POS controller.

"More importantly, this type of loss prevention product is valuable in assisting retailers with increasing their return on investment during this difficult economic time and is complementary to our current solutions offerings."
