SpiderWareM3 Platform Management Now Available on ATCA System

Emerson Network Power has announced that SpiderWareM3 platform management software is now available on the Centellis 2000 AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) (ATCA) system.

Originally, SpiderWareM3 is available exclusively on the Centellis 500 and Centellis 1000 MicroTCA (News - Alert) systems. Now, it also supports both the ATCA and MicroTCA open-standard architectures of Emerson Network Power platforms.

SpiderWareM3 offers remote management and monitoring. In addition, it also offers maintenance of multiple intelligent platform management interface (IPMI)-compatible xTCA platforms. According to Emerson (News - Alert) officials, this solution is particularly suited for the telecom and military and defense markets.

Officials said that SpiderWareM3’s capabilities are first utilized in the product development lab. This accelerates the integration of Emerson Network Power’s (News - Alert) xTCA platforms with application software.

On the SpiderWareM3 screen, developers can graphically see, and click on, third-party blades represented on the SpiderWareM3 screen. Officials said that this allows developers to read the blade’s FRU information and capture any alarms it is sending.

SpiderWareM3 platform features remote monitoring of multiple ATCA platforms; automated acquisition and update of IPMI information; alarm monitoring and prioritization; fault and alarm alerts; sensor threshold setting.

Additional features include temperature control and threshold setting; field-replaceable unit information; and HPI (News - Alert) and XML over TCP/IP interface.

“By releasing a distribution of our award winning SpiderWareM3 software that seamlessly interfaces with ATCA-based platforms, we are now able to deliver a best-in-class, cost-effective platform management portal to a host of new vertical markets,” said Jorge Magalhaes, vice president of marketing for Embedded Computing business at Emerson Network Power, in a statement.

Emerson Network Power is a business of Emerson and a company enabling Business-Critical Continuity from grid to chip for telecommunication networks, data centers, health care and industrial facilities.

The company provides solutions and expertise in areas including AC and DC power and precision cooling systems, embedded computing and power, integrated racks and enclosures, power switching and controls, monitoring, and connectivity.

Earlier this month, company said that it’ll bring together data center design, build and management professionals in a two-day forum. In September, company introduced Energy Logic for telecommunications, an approach that uses a series of sequential strategies to reduce energy consumption across the network.
