International Gateway Operator in Bangladesh Picks Ericsson for Managed Services

Ericsson (News - Alert) has been chosen by Bangla Trac Communications, an international gateway operator in Bangladesh, to manage operations of its new switching infrastructure.

Ericsson has been contracted to provide operational readiness and manage the day-to-day operations of the new wireline network providing gateway services for incoming and outgoing international traffic.

Bangla Trac can now quickly launch its international gateway services, with high quality and predictable performance. These changes will help the Bangladeshi operator reduce costs while maintaining customer satisfaction.

The Bangla Trac Communications agreement builds on a previous contract to deliver and implement a fixed-line network based on total Ericsson solution with its Telephony Softswitch, Redback SmartEdge routers and the Marconi OMS Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP).

The operator is committed to provide customers with high-quality, flexible and reliable international gateway services. Tarique Haque, CEO, Bangla Trac Communications, noted that the combination of services and technology from Ericsson enables them to reduce costs and focus on their customers’ needs by launching services faster and more efficiently.

Ericsson Bangladesh is proud to be chosen by Bangla Trac and entrusted with the end-to-end management, operation and maintenance of its international gateway network. Arun Bansal, managing director of the company, finds this partnership to reaffirm Ericsson’s broadband network capabilities and reinforces their market leadership in managed services.

Ericsson recently collaborated with Intel (News - Alert) to bring HSPA mobile data solutions to Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), thereby extending its 3G mobile broadband technology from notebooks to a range of pocketable devices with various purposes.

Targeted at Intel's Moorestown platform, the Ericsson HSPA data solution is scheduled for release in the 2009/10 timeframe.
