Deltacom Expands its Integrated IP-Enabled Voice and Data Services

ITC^DeltaCom has completed a network upgrade that immediately enables up to 6Mbps of dynamically allocated bandwidth for integrated Internet access, site-to-site MPLS data, and IP-enabled local and long distance voice in twelve new markets.

The company said that the technology is now fully available to 85 percent of Deltacom’s (News - Alert) footprint, which significantly expands the service’s previous sixteen-market footprint. DeltaCom is offering the service with the company’s Simplici-T family of T-1 voice and data packages and with its Simpli-Business product that combines voice and data network services, NEC phone systems, Lexmark printers, and Lenovo (News - Alert) towers and laptops.

Featuring 3Mbps, 4.5Mpbs and 6Mbps connectivity options, the service delivers dynamic bandwidth allocation for voice, data and Internet applications. This is acheived by utilizing Deltacom's private MPLS network for reliable transmission of voice and data traffic.

Deltacom helps their customers meet their needs for high-speed data connectivity and Internet access without the purchase of separate connections and equipment. There is continued increase in demand for Internet and data services, and this integrated solution enables their customers to efficiently converge voice and data networks with a bundled solution that provides the dynamic allocation they need to meet their specific traffic mix requirements, observed Lee A. Kimball, Deltacom's senior vice president of Marketing.

ITC^DeltaCom, Inc., provides, through its operating subsidiaries, integrated telecommunications and technology services to businesses and consumers in the southeastern United States. This month, the company also announced a $20 million network upgrade initiative to begin in 2008 and be completed in 2009.

The company will deploy additional Infinera (News - Alert) DTN optical networking systems in key markets across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama and Georgia. The upgrade will enable high capacity DWDM services with speeds up to 10Gbps.

In addition, SONET equipment will be added to deliver service capabilities ranging from DS-3 to OC-192. The company has also decided to build out a number of metro markets, bringing on-net services closer to its customer base.
