Chelsio Adds New 10GbE Adapters to Product Line

Chelsio Communications (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) solutions, has added new adapters to its family of Unified Wire 10GbE adapters. These adapters are designed to meet enterprise data center demand for better performance, price and flexibility in solutions.

One of the Chelsio 10GbE adapters introduced is the 10GbE dual-port storage accelerator with PCI-Express. Freeing up host central processing unit (CPU) cycles, this SFP+ adapter offloads TCP/IP, iSCSI, and iWARP RDMA processing from its host system. Concurrently running unmodified InfiniBand and Fiber Channel applications on Ethernet, this system achieves increased bandwidth, lower latency, and reduced power consumption.

N310E, the single-port version of the  N320E, is a 10GbE adapter with PCI-Express. Price: $695.  B320E-SR+ is a 10GbE dual port adapter with PCI-Express, designed specifically for wide area network (WAN) optimization, load-balancing and traffic management at the network edge. Price: $3,495. N310E-CX is an existing low profile, single-port stateless adapter that has been reduced in price to $595.

Finally, the N320E is a low profile 10GbE dual port server adapter with PCI-Express. For companies using 10Gb Ethernet in their datacenters, with advanced stateless offload, this SFP+ based adapter provides additional bandwidth. Price: $400 per port, or $795 total. This adapter does not include the modules and can operate with twin-axial cable.

“We now have the best performance, the maximum features, and lowest priced 10Gb Ethernet adapters in the industry, and new pricing along with new adapter cards gives our OEM partners and end-customers the flexibility to deploy Chelsio in a broad range of network applications,” said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio Communications, in a statement.   “The market is ready for the ‘All-in-One’ 10GbE adapter, which meets the needs of any server, storage or networking application and delivers the lowest TCO for the Enterprise Data Center. Since our adapters do not place any feature demands whatsoever on the switch infrastructure, we enable the lowest per port switch costs for the data center.”
