Shanghai RagenTek, a provider of GSM/GPRS and Smartphone solution, has licensed Winwap Technologies’ applications to include them in their new Smartphone product called Cronus.
The Cronus is RagenTek's Smartphone platform that runs on the Windows CE based Soleus platform.
Winmap Technologies is a provider of mobile Internet browsers (WAP) and multimedia messaging (MMS) software. The company’s product portfolio includes the popular WinWAP browser and software development kits for WAP browsing, WAP connectivity and Multimedia Messaging. WAP is otherwise termed as Wireless application protocol. These applications are available for various feature phone software platforms.
Under the current terms of this agreement, RagenTek will license the WinWAP Browser, which is a WAP 2.0 and HTML compatible browser, and the MMS Client that provides full Multimedia Messaging capabilities.
"We anticipate great success for Cronus in the market as this product is smarter and stronger compared to the traditional feature phones, and it also has a cost advantage to other current Smartphones on the market", says Zhang Shu Xiang, sales director at RagenTek.
"In the future, we will produce different series of Smartphones based on this product's success," assured Xiang.
“Integration of our applications on Cronus is deep and allows other applications to access and benefit from our underlying data transport protocol stacks," says Mikael Krogius, chief executive officer at Winwap Technologies.
Krogius also mentioned about the expanding market for mobile software applications. He strongly feels that no body would be ready to buy a networked mobile phone without browser and multimedia messaging capabilities.
"With the agreement with RagenTek we will strengthen our foothold on the mobile software market and continue our efforts to become a leading supplier of mobile applications in China," added Krogius.
