Alternative Technology to Offer Double-Take Software's Virtualization Protection Solutions

Alternative Technology, Inc., a distributor of thin-client/server-based computing, edge infrastructure, virtualization, storage and security solutions, is going enter a channel program with Double-Take Software, an infrastructure software company, to launch a suite of virtualization protection solutions.

 

Benefiting from its virtualization presence in the North American channel and its education and technical resources, Alternative Technology will offer a range of Double-Take Software solutions, including Double-Take Virtual Recovery Assistant, Double-Take for VMware Infrastructure and Double-Take Livewire.

 

Of these software solutions, Double-Take Virtual Recovery Assistant automates the provisioning of the virtual environment and reduces end-user downtime to simplify the process of migrating to VMware ESX virtual machines. Apart from automating the protection of workloads running on physical servers, it moves them to virtual machines automatically in the event of a server outage or site-wide disaster.

 

Double-Take for VMware Infrastructure provides hypervisor-level protection between two VMware hosts. It keeps the target virtual disks up to date and ready for failover, recovery and backup over any distance, and allows administrators to centrally manage and monitor multiple virtual machine protection jobs from any Windows desktop.

 

The replicated virtual machine can be started on the target server with up-to-date replicated data in case of an outage.

 

Double-Take Livewire enables continuous full-system image backup from many servers or locations to a centralized recovery server. The solution replicates all the data, applications, operating system and configuration information saved upon the protected server, to the repository server allowing that entire server to be easily restored to its most recent state or to a previous point-in-time snapshot.
