Vyatta Announces Bailout Package for Network Economic Crisis

Vyatta has announced an economic relief package for IT budgets by allowing continued network upgrades with less capital outlay. Vyatta builds open-source networking solutions that provide an alternative to overpriced, inflexible products.

These solutions combine the features, performance and reliability of an enterprise router and firewall with the cost savings, flexibility and security of open source. The Linux-based router, firewall and VPN software provides customers with a level of control that is not available with proprietary solutions.

According to Kelly Herrell, the chief executive officer of Vyatta, “IT budgets are shrinking rapidly in response to the economic uncertainties caused by the financial crisis, but the need to continue network buildouts and upgrades is not slowing down. Customers are telling us that their budgets are coming under review and that they can no longer afford to buy overpriced networking equipment from Cisco (News - Alert) and other proprietary vendors. Now is an excellent time for customers to consider Vyatta for their network infrastructure. In addition to lowering CAPEX requirements by 50 percent or more, Vyatta puts networks on a radically more cost-efficient curve for scaling into future needs.” Vyatta has been the first to develop the first commercially supported open-source router and firewall solution.

Vyatta is providing economic relief to companies whose IT budgets are being affected due to the economic uncertainties caused by the financial crisis. In addition to the 50-75 percent savings over Cisco that Vyatta customers enjoy every day, Vyatta has also launched some promotions that are designed to help users stretch their network infrastructure budgets.

Everyday Pricing: Software and appliances offer 50-75 percent savings over Cisco. Promotion: Free Appliance – Buy 5 Vyatta appliances and get the 6th one for free. Promotion: Free Subscription - Buy 5 Vyatta subscriptions and get the 6th one for free.

Herrell also noted that “If customers can't grow their networks, they can't grow their businesses. Vyatta offers customers the choice to spend less of their budget on high-margin proprietary products without compromising quality or support. The industry needs change, and Vyatta is pleased that we can step up and be part of the solution, rather than the problem.”
