Riverbed Expands Into the Middle East

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology has opened a new office in the Middle East, located at the Business Central Towers in Dubai. The new office will support the local Riverbed team and will be managed by Dr. Mohammed Anwar Karzazi, regional sales director for the Middle East and Africa.

The Riverbed expansion of its operations into the Gulf and Middle Eastern region is driven by the recognition by distributed organizations of the importance of optimizing their WAN performance for IT consolidation, backup and disaster recovery, and application acceleration.

"The Middle Eastern region is characterized by a growing number of distributed organizations," said Dr. Mohammed Anwar Karzazi, in a statement. "The new Dubai office will allow Riverbed to respond to the wide area network (WAN) application performance requirements of those organizations."

"We are committed to a strong market presence in the Middle East," said Marcus Chambers, vice president of EMEA at Riverbed. "The new office in Dubai is intended to enable us to build on existing partner and customer relationships and at the same time develop new ones."

Riverbed Technology is a technology and market player in wide-area data services (WDS) solutions for companies worldwide. By enabling application performance over the wide area network (WAN) that is orders of magnitude faster than what users experience today, Riverbed is changing the way people work, and enabling a distributed workforce that can collaborate as if they were local.

In September, Riverbed Technology announced the launch of the industry's most comprehensive acceleration solutions in Poland and the Eastern European market. The opening of its Poland office will allow Riverbed to best meet the needs of distributed organizations as they seek to solve the problems associated with application performance over wide area networks (WANs).

Riverbed's decision to expand operations in Europe is driven by the recognition by organizations of the importance of optimizing WAN performance for a broad range of applications and services, including IT consolidation, backup and disaster recovery, and application acceleration.
