Secure Computing Corporation, an enterprise gateway security company, has announced that its Secure Web Anti-Malware achieved 99.7 percent detection success in an independent test conducted by AV Test Labs.
The product by Secure Computing scored higher than 32 other companies and stood ahead of all the major anti-malware vendors. Its web gateway solution, formerly known as Webwasher, scored five "A" grades out of a possible six scores in the test.
AV Test Labs' research simulated a real-world combination of malware threats and illustrated the varying degrees of competitive product effectiveness in detecting these threats. Secure got the best overall average of all anti-malware products that were tested by the labs.
AV Test labs used a total of 1,164,662 unique malware samples for this test, which were seen spreading or which were distributed by malware authors within the last three months only. The samples included worms, backdoors, bots, Trojan Horses, and 94,291 unique adware and spyware samples too.
Secure Computing's Secure Web is a solution that protects enterprises against malware and spyware, phishing fraud and identity theft, data leakage, and Internet misuse. Recently, the company had outlined today's threat landscape, covering the latest malware trends in its report, "The State Of Malware - Summer 2008." It also helps to ensure policy enforcement, regulatory compliance, and a productive application environment for the enterprises.
Andreas Marx, managing director for AV Test Labs, said that the sophistication of today's security threats for enterprises continues to increase, thus, it is important for companies to protect themselves from attacks designed to steal information and inflict maximum damage.
Marx noted that AV Test Labs works as a proactive agent to offer evaluation for the best anti-malware products, so enterprises can make a good decision in their evaluation process.
