WebTrends: Google Chrome Browser Showing Robust Adoption Rate

WebTrends, a company that provides Web analytics and online marketing solutions to optimize marketing campaigns and customer engagement, reported that Internet users are rapidly embracing Chrome, the Web browser recently launched by Google (News - Alert).

According to the company, visitors to The Daily Telegraph’s Web site (Britain’s highest selling newspaper) have made Google Chrome their fourth most popular browser in the third week since the it was debuted.

Nearly two percent of traffic to telegraph.co.uk used the new browser — topping Netscape, Mozilla, Opera and other browsers, analytics by WebTrends indicated.

Google’s Chrome directly takes on Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Internet Explorer browser, which currently dominates the market.

Chrome’s noteworthy features include a combined search and address bar and snapshots of most-visited sites. Google said it designed Chrome to deliver a seamless Web experience for users, with a multi-process platform at its core that helps provide users with enhanced stability and security.

Each browser tab in Chrome operates as a separate process, so of one tab crashes or misbehaves, others remain stable and responsive, and users can continue working without having to restart the browser.

Google also introduced a JavaScript engine, V8, that speeds up Web applications and enables a new class of Web applications that weren’t possible to deliver using previous browsers.

For its part, WebTrends incorporated Google Chrome into its on demand Web analytics reports, and is one of the first Web analytics firms to do so. WebTrends customers are therefore able to report on visitors that use Chrome to access their Web sites in the same way as other browsers.

Christian Howes, digital solutions architect at WebTrends said that it’s absolutely crucial for any business with a Web presence to have a clear view of the browsers that visitors are using, and WebTrends responded quickly to support Chrome so its customers could continue capturing and accurately measuring all of their visitors.
