NuVox Announces Google Apps Agreement

NuVox (News - Alert) is working with Google to deliver the Google Apps messaging and collaboration suite to NuVox business customers.

NuVox claims it will be the first business-to-business (B2B)-focused, competitive communications provider in the U.S. to offer this suite of Google (News - Alert) applications to its customer base.

Thanks to the pact, NuVox business customers will have anytime, anywhere access to Google's popular Web applications on their own domain, including Gmail — e-mail with up to 25GB of storage per user, mail search tools, and integrated chat.

Gmail also interfaces seamlessly with other popular e-mail clients.

"This agreement with Google further enhances NuVox's already strong and robust suite of products and services," said Sid Earley, vice president of Marketing for NuVox, in a statement. "The power of Google standing behind e-mail and other essential applications gives our customers a bold edge in the marketplace. Additionally, this is a major step toward NuVox's strategy of offering innovative managed services that are not currently available through other providers."

NuVox provides a wide variety of communications services and business solutions for over 90,000 business customers across the Southeast and Midwest.

"Google is excited to work with NuVox to provide businesses with rich applications that allow their employees to collaborate with a broad network of colleagues and access their information anytime, anywhere," said Jack Weixel, business development manager, Google Enterprise. "With NuVox's expertise in telecommunications services and Google's experience in messaging and collaboration, business customers can be productive more quickly."
