F-Secure Debuts Wellbeing 2009 Family of IT products

F-Secure Corporation (News - Alert) has stated that by introducing the Wellbeing 2009 family of consumer IT security products they are now delivering the fastest online protection.

F-Secure claims that they have set new standards in internet security with F-Secure DeepGuard 2.0 technology. This recognizes both safe and malicious software instantaneously, using a real-time protection network.

F-Secure protects consumers and businesses against computer viruses and other threats from the Internet and mobile networks and their solutions are available as a service subscription through more than 170 Internet service providers and mobile operator partners.

The technology employed by F-Secure uses behavior analysis to ascertain the threat rather than the usual approach of crossing it across black lists and white lists. The company states that customers are protected with a service that is faster than anything seen before in blocking new threats, more accurate in identifying malicious software, and fully automated with no need for user attention.

DeepGuard is a behavior-based detection engine designed to block new malware from infecting a system by analyzing how the file behaves when it is executed on the client computer. DeepGuard 2.0 adds the real-time protection network capability to the local analysis.

Company officials explain that whenever the solution comes across a malicious app, it immediately takes out its digital signature and queries the properties of it with F-Secure servers. The company has provided ultra-fast servers to respond to these queries to make sure that time is not wasted. DeepGuard will analyze the behavior of the executable locally. For confirmed new threats, F-Secure Labs can now activate complete protection within 60 seconds for the whole global community of computers using DeepGuard 2.0 technology.

“We're introducing another industry first with the real-time protection network that complements the traditional reactive and proactive technologies. It dramatically shortens the time it takes to protect our customers from the moment we find completely new malware,” says Pirkka Palomäki, chief technology officer at F-Secure.

“When our customers try to run suspicious programs, the trustworthiness of such files is automatically queried from our servers – in fractions of a second. No other vendor has such ‘in-the-cloud’ protection for consumers deployed globally,” Palomäki says. “This is a great example of our continuous innovations in the fight against the increasingly professional online criminals, who are producing more targeted and previously unseen viruses at an unprecedented rate.”

The company asserts that in this way participating computers of the real-time protection network help provide information that instantly benefits the security of the whole community, bypassing the time it has traditionally taken to send out virus database updates.

The family of products, including F-Secure Anti-Virus 2009 and F-Secure Home Server Security 2009, protects privacy and user content, keeping both adults and children automatically safe online. The F-Secure Health Check, which is available for free, supervises the safety of all the software in the user’s computer. The Wellbeing portal is provided to give customers more value for their money on data security by offering profiled content, security and product news, as well as easily accessible online tools.
