Netezza Corporation, a data warehouse appliance company, reportedly has announced the release of five advanced analytic applications developed by Netezza Developer Network (NDN) members.
The new applications serve markets such as retail, telecommunications, financial services and government.
According to Netezza officials, the application powers complex analytics faster and more economically feasible then before, allowing users to perform “what-if” analyses to predict future outcomes more accurately.
These analyses can be performed on large volumes of detailed data, providing business insights that would otherwise be lost in sampled and summarized data. The deployment and management of the overall solution is simplified, freeing up business users to focus on results rather than worrying about tuning and maintaining the system.
“By providing plug-and-play solutions for complex analytic scenarios, these applications offer a rich set of options for customers,” said Jim Baum, president and chief operating officer at Netezza. “Enabling this after-market of solutions will increase our momentum as we enter the mainstream.”
The new releases include: Edge Associate’s library of SQL functions to speed up migrations to “the Netezza”; HCL Technology’s implementation of Monte Carlo simulations for pricing derivatives; Multi-Threaded Inc’s fuzzy name and text matching app for critical anti-terrorism, money laundering and digital forensics operations; Rate Integration’s dynamic re-pricing for telecommunications providers; and Systech Solutions’ profitability analysis application for retail and CPG companies provides cost and revenue analysis at the detailed SKU and customer level.
The applications operate in the core of the Netezza appliance where data is stored, exploiting Netezza’s parallel processing architecture for fast performance of complex analytics. Analytic processing previously beyond the capabilities of conventional data warehouses becomes routine with Netezza.
Arun Gollapudi, chief executive officer of Systech, said that Netezza provides a unique platform to bring truly differentiated applications to market.
“Through NDN membership, we can simplify the application development process and build complex applications faster,” Gollapudi said.
