Information Technology -Somatic Digital Debuts eTouchBook Digital Portal and Web Service

Somatic Digital announced the release and availability of its new Digital Portal and Web Service, eTouchBook.com. Somatic Digital is a developer of innovative technology-based products suitable for publishers.

eTouchBook is a part of the eTouchBook Suite of hardware and software platform tools allowing publishers and content owners to manage and link their print and digital assets directly.

Publishers will be able to create a hybrid media distribution experience which enables a new ecosystem of transactions, analytics and interactivity using the eTouchBook Suite. The regular printed page is converted into a touch screen making it a portal to the digital world.

“The eTouchBook.com portal centralizes and streamlines the publishing environment to facilitate creating new products,” explained Jason Barkeloo, founder and president. “eTouchBook.com is the portal for helping publishers reinvigorate their print business by reducing their management costs while leveraging their print and digital assets.”

eTouchBook.com provides access to BookDesigner Web Service which provides a Web browser and Internet connection to the publisher. Using this, publishers can dynamically build and test TUI databases before deployment to the eTouchBook Client on their readers’ computers.

The Publisher Forum allows editorial teams to have a single environment for sharing, archiving and collaborating on publishing projects. The forum also allows moving from product concept to finished marketable product rapidly. The moderators are individuals with Touch User Interface (TUI) technology Instructor-level certification.

eTouchBook.com offers access to eTouchBook Client software, drivers and support besides publisher-specific Interactive Product catalog.

“eTouchBook.com encapsulates a system of tools and services and help publishers be more efficient regardless of their adoption of the eTouchBook. Publishers and authors now have an environment in which they can collaborate to solve problems, develop new products, and be more effective in their markets,” noted David Krauth, co-founder and vice president, Software Engineering.

Somatic Digital has developed the Touch User Interface (TUI) technology. This technology creates a “touch screen” from a printed page by connecting paper directly to digital content which is able to reside on optical media, the Internet or hard drives.

It allows interaction with digital content and the mere press of a finger, stylus or pointer enables people to gain access to digital content. This will be very beneficial to students who are physically, visually or hearing impaired.
