Cryptek Intros Netgard MFD Card-Reader Appliance Solution

Cryptek, Inc. announced the release of its Netgard MFD card-reader appliance solution for managing secure access to multi-function devices (MFDs), which can print, scan and copy documents electronically. Cryptek provides secure networking products and solutions.

The Netgard MFD security appliance offers multi-factor, identity access authentication for multi-function devices. The security appliance maintains security by asking users to authenticate themselves with an electronic access card and PIN (personal identification number). The Netgard MFD appliance controls network access from the multi-function device. Users are restricted access and requested to first insert a valid identity card for using the multi-function device such as scan to file share/scan to email etc.

The identity card may be issued from the Department of Defense (DOD), or may be a Common Access Card (CAC), or PIN in order to make sure that restricted information is not transmitted through the organization’s network.

“Cryptek is introducing a series of new products that leverage our company’s core competence in information security,” said Bill Anderson, Cryptek president & CEO.

“Our new Netgard MFD product extends the value of multi-function devices that print, scan and copy documents to organizations that have previously restricted their use due to security policies and restrictions. The Netgard MFD appliance is just one example of how Cryptek products promote productivity without compromising security.”

The Netgard MFD security appliance from Cryptek is convenient for use and installation. It includes an intuitive, Web-based administration interface for easy and remote management of security policy for multi-function devices with Netgard MFD appliance.

The Netgard MFD is available with new multi-function devices or can also be refitted to devices that are available with the client already. Multi-function devices can support the requirements of HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive) and the U.S. Department of Defense Common Access Card Issuance Mandate when fitted with the Netgard MFD security appliance.

Virginia-based Cryptek innovates secure information sharing and information assurance products and solutions. It caters to a wide base of clients including Global 2000 companies, governments, military and intelligence agencies as well as leading IT and communications equipment manufacturers and service providers.
