Software Services Firm Rolta Acquires WhittmanHart Consulting

Rolta, a company that offers information technology services in engineering and Internet environments, today signed an agreement to acquire Chicago-based management and technology consulting services firm, WhittmanHart Consulting (WHC).

WHC is the consulting division of WhittmanHart, and provides consultancy services in business intelligence (BI), especially on the Hyperion software technology acquired by Oracle (News - Alert) in 2007.

Rolta says that WHC will bring significant strength and track record for the company in Oracle’s Hyperion products and offer major focus on enterprise performance management (EPM).

WHC’s technology provides end-to-end solutions to business C-level executives on EPM issues. The WHC team includes more than 80 consultants with experience in management consulting, IT and other industry specific backgrounds. Using their expertise, WHC has developed proprietary financial templates, driver-based planning models, BI scoreboards and acceleration tools, said the company.

WHC has extensive knowledge in diverse BI platforms including Oracle Financial Applications, SAP (News - Alert) EPM, SAP Business Objects, Cognos and Oracle’s Hyperion Suite.  Rolta believes that WHC’s proficiency in the Hyperion Suite will give the company a great opportunity to expand its services in the BI chain.

The WHC acquisition enables Rolta to move up the value chain and address complementary markets by offering a complete range of business solutions and consulting services. Also with this acquisition, Rolta is able to offer EPM and risk management to its geographic information system (GIS)/geospatial and engineering clients. At the same time, it can also utilize WHC’s customer base by offering its complementary solutions.

Through the acquisition of WHC, Rolta hopes to gain an impressive track record, a huge customer base, a team of professional consultants and innovative methodologies and techniques to face the fast-growing market.

WHC maintains a number of business partners, including Oracle, Business Objects, Cognos (News - Alert), CA and HP.  WHC has been an Oracle/Hyperion Certified Advantage Partner for more than 10 years. The company recently achieved Oracle’s System Integration Partner of the year award for Oracle EPM.   WHC is also one of the partner members of Oracle’s Partner Advisory Council.

Rolta plans to integrate the assets and business opportunities acquired through the transaction into the operations of Rolta-TUSC. Rolta had acquired TUSC earlier this year. TUSC is an IT consulting company specializing in ERP applications and database and business intelligence solutions, based on Oracle technologies.

K. K. Singh, chairman and CEO, Rolta, said, “The move to add business intelligence solutions to our portfolio is further validation of our commitment to growth through the delivery of higher value to our clients.  This acquisition is in keeping with our declared strategy of acquiring technologies and skills that help our clients get greater returns from their investments in enterprise solutions and services from Rolta.”

After WHC’s acquisition, WhittmanHart will retain and continue to operate WhittmanHart Interactive in a standalone capacity.
