Iomega Integrates EMC Retrospect Express for Local and Online Backup

Iomega, an EMC (News - Alert) company and a provider of consumer and small business data protection, announced that it will integrate local and remote backup in a single product offering.

External hard drives from Iomega are being supplied along with new downloadable software bundle which integrates EMC Retrospect Express backup and recovery software with Mozy online backup service.

EMC-owned brands, Iomega, retrospect and Mozy have united together for the first time to offer customers with a single integrated hardware and software solution necessary for near line and online backup.

EMC which acquired Iomega last month had previously taken over Dantz Development Corp., makers of Retrospect backup software and Berkeley Data Systems, the developers of MozyHome and MozyPro online backup software.

“The combination of Iomega external hard drives with Retrospect backup software integrated with Mozy online backup service means storing, protecting and accessing digital files is now easier than ever before,” said Jonathan Huberman, President of the Consumer and Small Business Products Group at EMC Corp. 

This enables computer users to have a seamless backup system for local backup of every file, as well as backup to the cloud for files that warrant another copy. This bundled solution provides the versatility of any time, anywhere access.

Huberman explained that Iomega storage devices provide tremendous capacity and dependability which allows storing all of a user’s files while Mozy and Retrospect Express work seamlessly with each other enabling the user to have regular local backups of all files with enhanced extra level of security besides allowing remote access for files stored online.
