Egenera, NYFIX Reach Deal

Egenera has announced that electronic trading systems vendor NYFIX has standardized on infrastructure virtualization products from Egenera.

"We needed a platform with high availability and management capabilities to optimize our operations," said Don Henderson, CTO at NYFIX. "With Egenera systems, we're able to provision servers and bring applications to market faster, and with less infrastructure."

Egenera systems are platforms that "eliminate the need to rigidly dedicate servers to applications," according to the Egenerians: "Instead, Egenera's Processing Area Network replaces server infrastructure with software, and repurposes and reallocates virtual and physical servers on demand."

NYFIX currently uses Egenera BladeFrame EX systems, which include 168 Processing Blade modules based on both Intel (News - Alert) and AMD processors.

Earlier this month, Egenera announced that president and CEO, Michael Thompson (News - Alert), was been named to the Board of Trustees at the Mass Technology Leadership Council.

The MTLC is "dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs in starting, managing and growing their companies, and to help Massachusetts technology companies be successful in global markets," according to council officials, noting that Thompson has "over 25 years' experience in enterprise technology sales and operations management."

Formed by the combination of the Mass Software Council and New England Business and Technology Association, the MTLC is "dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting the success of companies that develop and deploy technology across industry sectors."

"Taking an active role in our community -- both from a corporate responsibility perspective and supporting organizations that contribute to the growth of our local Massachusetts economy -- is a key focus area for me and all the employees at Egenera," said Thompson.

The MTLC conducts educational programs and hosts signature events, facilitates networking between industry executives and potential partners, investors, and customers, sponsors research on the industry and recognizes companies and people through the organization's annual Technology Leadership Awards.
