Plat'Home Announces New Palm-Sized Server

Japanese Linux technology pioneer, Plat'Home (News - Alert), has announced the general availability of its KANSHI BlockS Pro solution in the United States. Built for automatic network and server surveillance, this palm-sized “micro server” provides regular status reports and immediately alerts users of any network failures.

Roughly the size of a coffee mug (4.5'' x 3.2'' x 1.5''), KANSHI BlockS Pro offers a low-cost, extremely reliable monitoring server with no moving parts that can be easily configured and installed in minutes. The server is ideal for large enterprises with many departments of varying sizes, and can withstand ambient temperatures of up to 104°F. Due to this capability, the server can be placed even where cooling is not available.

Based on Plat’Home’s core MicroServer design, KANSHI BlockS Pro has a robust, reliable construction easy to configure with a wide range of applications to develop custom appliance servers.

Dr. Mitsugu Kakuta of the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering explained that they’ve developed a system for filming sporting events at international competitions and delivering video to a client machine in real-time.

He noted that equipment malfunctions need to be noticed instantly. Because the users of the monitoring system include specialists and non-specialists, it can’t be technically hard to use, and it also has to be highly portable. They didn’t have big budgets and spacious equipment vans that they could use. Without KANSHI BlockS Pro to work with, their system could not be built. Dr. Kakuta added that there was simply no comparable solution on the market in the same low price range and with the same functionality as KANSHI BlockS.

According to Tomoyasu Suzuki, president of Plat’Home, KANSHI BlockS Pro has incredibly surprising advantages compared to other surveillance appliance products.

“I’m a lucky guy, selling such sexy hardware. Customers always comment on how they love the option of placing it virtually anywhere. For companies, departments, or remote offices tight on space, it’s a great fit,” said Suzuki.
