LiveTime Software and Help Desk Software announced today that they’ve released version 2.0 of their virtual appliance, which consists of Java technology based JeOS (Just Enough Operating System) and ITIL Service Management software.
LiveTime Software provides ITIL-certified Service Management and Help Desk Software, and supports Sun xVM and VMware virtualization

architectures with this highly integrated appliance at both the desktop and server levels, according to the company.
SaaS (

The company has decreased the memory overhead to 128Mb. This allows for higher concurrency and more number of virtual machines per server, officials say. They have also included support for symmetric multiprocessing for optimal performance across virtualized CPU’s.
This virtual appliance comes with built-in debugging, configuration and management utilities. It provides the necessary scalability and security that is difficult to achieve when deployed on existing hardware and operating systems, company officials say.
Simple guided menus provide easy access to networking, upgrades and general system utilities, officials say. This makes the system easy to update and maintain, provides a very small footprint and a 160MB download.
It currently supports all Sun xVM and VMware virtualization platforms, including Sun xVM VirtualBox, VMware Player, Workstation, Fusion, Server and ESX Server.
The Sun xVM VirtualBox is an entry-level offering that is designed for different types of customers, big and small, according to the company. It is a high performance, free and open source desktop virtualization software, company officials say. Users can build, test and run cross-platform, multi-tier applications on a single laptop or desktop computer with ease.
Customers and SaaS providers can use their existing resources to provide best practice customer service and support to their respective customer bases with a combination of LiveTime’s ITIL-based Service Management and Sun xVM, officials say.
Vijay Sarathy, a senior director for xVM at Sun Microsystems (
