Teradici Unveils PCoIP Firmware Release 3.5.0 and PCoIP Management Console 1.7

Teradici, a developer of PC-over-IP or PCoIP protocol for enabling a true PC experience for desktop virtualization, announced the availability of its PCoIP Firmware Release 3.5.0 and PCoIP Management Console 1.7.

In a release Trent Punnett, vice president of Marketing at Teradici said, “Teradici is continually adding new and innovative features to its PCoIP zero client solutions through easy firmware updates that provide investment protection as well as increased manageability, cost-effectiveness, security and scalability, along with a rich user experience.”

According to company sources this PCoIP zero client firmware update features support for USB 2.0 with VMware View sessions, Imprivata OneSign Virtual Desktop Access with VMware View, 802.1X security, and IPv6.

Teradici will be able to further enhance its PCoIP zero client technology and hasten the adoption of secure PCoIP zero clients across a broad spectrum of applications across the globe.

“With this latest firmware release, we are delivering enhanced performance, flexibility, security and rapid access to all existing zero client users,” Punnett added.

Officials added that the PCoIP Firmware Release 3.5.0 which can be downloaded from the company Web site is capable of delivering better performance, flexibility, security and access. USB 2.0 support with VMware view sessions is ensured in the new release. PCoIP zero client users will witness greater transfer speed for bulk transfers along with more flexibility owing to the support offered by several DVD drives.

Officials added that Imprivata OneSign No Click Access is a feature provided by Teradici and Imprivata. They have developed a joint PCoIP strong authentication solution by synergizing PCoIP zero clients with Imprivata OneSign Virtual Desktop Access with VMware View. This is compatible with a broad range of access cards and ID badges.

Also PCoIP zero client users will benefit a lot from fast and secure access to their roaming desktops from any location by just using their badge. 802.1X Network Authentication feature allows PCoIP zero client devices to be deployed with optimum security using EAP-TLS certificate-based authentication.

Summing up the other features officials added that PCoIP zero clients have been updated to support ongoing mandates for IPv6 adherence. The “Help Desk” mode lets administrators to login with a screen link which allows users to log into a particular VM of the administrator’s choice.

Further support for up to 25 View Connection Server addresses is provided which increases flexibility and scalability for large enterprises. Also provided is a 100BASE-FX support for fast Ethernet over optical fiber to ensure optimum security over long distances.
