Conference High-Speed Network, Next-Gen Switches Validated by Ixia

This week, global provider of converged IP and wireless network test solutions Ixia announced that it is helping the Super Computing 2011 (SC11) conference validate the throughput capacity of its onsite network.

SC11 organizers have successfully verified that the network is capable of handling the level of traffic expected from exhibitors at the show with Ixia's (News - Alert) new Xcellon-Lava 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet or GE load modules. High-density switches for data center traffic management will also be demonstrated by Ixia in collaboration with Arista Networks and Extreme Networks (News - Alert) in their respective booths at SC11.

A high capacity network platform is provided by SCinet for exhibitors to demonstrate their cutting-edge computing applications during the conference. A wide variety of bandwidth-driven applications are supported by SCinet. Prior to deployment for use by show attendees, the capacity and throughput of the SCinet architecture was tested by Ixia’s just-released Xcellon Lava 40/100.

Ixia's new generation Higher Speed Ethernet products include Ixia's Xcellon-Lava 40/100-Gigabit Ethernet test modules. High-density data center 40GE and 100GE network equipment for large enterprises, service providers, and carrier-class networks can be tested with the help of Xcellon-Lava modules. Ixia’s IxNetwork and IxLoad support the layer 1-7 measurement and analysis test solution, Xcellon-Lava. Ixia's XG12, XM chassis series, and a broad range of Ethernet interface are also compatible with the Xcellon-Lava. Real-world, layer 1-7 test and measurement are therefore allowed in a single chassis.

Caroline Weilhamer, co-chair, SCinet routing team said, "As the SC conference series grows each year, attendees and exhibitors continue to drive demand for more capacity and better network services to support their demonstrations. We appreciate Ixia's collaboration in SCinet to help make our efforts a success."
