Free Source for Hadoop Training Launched by MapR

A free Internet-based source for training videos and documentation, the MapR Training Academy has been unveiled by MapR Technologies. The use of Hadoop can be effectively accelerated by the Hadoop user community for more business users with the MapR Training Academy. The industry’s most advanced distribution for Apache Hadoop is provided by MapR Technologies Inc.

Hadoop has been introduced as a Big Data analytics platform by the MapR Academy. The architecture, design and administration of Hadoop are delved into by the MapR Academy. In a release, Jack Norris, VP of marketing at MapR Technologies said, “MapR has developed a curriculum to help Hadoop users get up to speed, and accelerate the successful deployment and use of Hadoop. We’re committed to provide a robust and free training resource.”

Peter Conrad, education services manager at MapR Technologies added that MapR will continue to grow its comprehensive curriculum with the growth of Hadoop. Conrad said, “We are committed to educating administrators, developers, and analysts alike on the power of Hadoop and ecosystem applications.”

A wealth of information regarding installing, deploying, and managing a cluster will be made available to administrators. Hands-on cluster management experience will be provided through instructional videos along with free software downloads.

A growing body of tutorials and instructions will be made available to developers who want to learn the basics of MapReduce programming and Hadoop. The topics will range from parallel processing concepts all the way to writing Pig and Hive queries. Developers will be also able to build a single-node cluster with installation tutorials. Apart from working with a single-node cluster, the tutorials will allow developers to run real MapReduce jobs directly.

MapR Academy will also benefit analysts and business users. Valuable materials about the capabilities and concepts of Hadoop will help them discover more about how Hadoop works for data analysis in a business setting. The future for big data will be also unveiled by MapR Academy.

In other news, MapR Technologies recently announced a strategic partnership with Lucid Imagination, the commercial company for Apache Lucene and Apache Solr search technology.
