Actuate Unveils the Second in its New Business Intelligence Video Series

Actuate (News - Alert) Corporation has announced the release of the second of its new video series, filmed in partnership with James Governor, co-founder and industry analyst at RedMonk, which unveils the economics of open source, the company has announced.

Governor continues to guide the listener through the economics of open source comparing the heavy, complicated RFP process with a simpler, faster and more economical open source based approach, following on from the success of the first video released in October on Data Visualisation for Discovery.

The video takes a wider look at open source BI and its role at the intersection of mobile, big data, cloud and rapid application development, the company stated in a press release.

“We are all witnessing an increasing trend towards Open Source (News - Alert) business intelligence and the rapid value that is delivering to businesses. This is changing how organizations of all sizes approach projects and measure results. We are delighted to be at the heart of this movement,” says Nobby Akiha, SVP of Marketing at Actuate. “This series of videos coupled with other Actuate resources help organizations to innovate and transform by bringing them up to speed.”

While Governor, aka @monkchips, has more than 11,500 Twitter (News - Alert) followers, RedMonk makes extensive use of both open source and social media tools in its business operations. He led the creation of the GreenMonk sustainability subsidiary, as chairman of SAP's (News - Alert) external panel for stakeholder assurance in Sustainability Strategy and Reporting for 2009, the company has announced.

Recently, the company announced the general availability of Xenos Enterprise Server 3.0 (ES 3.0) for output management. Xenos Enterprise Server provides both document and data transformation services aimed at enabling enterprises to lower operational costs and complexity and improve customer service.

It is a solution that is said to offer several key benefits to organizations such as reductions in total cost of ownership, the delivery of intelligent content and support of Green IT initiatives.
