BuddyTV Guide App Introduced for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad

BuddyTV has introduced the BuddyTV Guide app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad that connects with AT&T (News - Alert) U-verse receivers, creating the must-have remote for the living room.

The company said that the new offering eliminates the need to decipher which remote to use. In addition, the BuddyTV Guide app advises users on what they will want to watch based on their tastes and viewing history, and then with a single tap they watch it on TV.

Bill Baxter, chief technology officer at BuddyTV, said that by launching BuddyTV on the flexible U-verse IPTV (News - Alert) platform, “We’re giving subscribers more control and convenience to quickly find what they want to watch from all their channel options.”

He added that the recommendations get smarter over time and provides users much more choice and value, while leveraging the technology and content of AT&T U-verse. With AT&T U-verse, subscribers can connect their U-verse receiver with their iPhone (News - Alert), iPod Touch, or iPad after downloading the BuddyTV Guide from the iTunes Store.

Moreover, company officials said that these subscribers can set reminders and receive push notifications. Plus, users can choose favorite channels to create a personalized TV listings view. When the personalization is done, only the channels they most often watch including HD channels are on display. In addition to suggesting programs based on viewing history and preferences; integrating with Netflix for users who are subscribed; and changing the iPhone into a master TV remote control, the new BuddyTV Guide app also allows users to recommend shows that usually get buried in the grid; comment on Facebook and invite friends into TV chat rooms The BuddyTV Guide app free download is currently available at the iTunes App Store and company officials have indicated that native Android and Google TV versions are coming soon.
