To provide broad, integrated and high-performance protection against dynamic security threats while simplifying the IT security infrastructure, Fortinet (News - Alert), a network security provider and the a company unified threat management (UTM) solutions has introduced major performance upgrades for its top-of-the-line, chassis-based FortiGate-5140B security platform that supports two new AdvancedTCA (News - Alert)(ATCA) form factor blades: the FortiSwitch-5203B and the FortiMail-5002B.
According to a press release, the FortiGate-5140B is a high-performance, carrier-grade chassis that provides maximum expandability and configuration flexibility to help address the increasingly complex security needs of next-generation service providers, large enterprises and telecommunications networks.
“Because the security stakes are so high for service providers, large enterprises and telecommunications networks, we are constantly pushing the performance and innovation envelope for this critical customer base,” said Patrick Bedwell, vice president of product marketing with Fortinet. “The results of these efforts are obvious in the significant performance enhancements we're delivering for our top-of-the-line FortiGate-5000 series.”
He continued, “We recognize customers are making a strategic and ongoing investment in our carrier-grade security platform. And that's why we will continue to add new security capabilities and enhance performance, as seen in the two new high-performance, multi-function security blades and chassis we're introducing today.”
The FortiGate-5140B combines native 40-Gigabit Ethernet support with a highly flexible and reliable ATCA-compliant architecture. As a result, the platform accommodates and optimizes the performance of a wide range of Fortinet's consolidated security, secure switching, centralized management and secure messaging blades.
In other news, Fortinet recently announced the company's FortiMail messaging security appliance has been awarded its 14th Virus Bulletin certification in the VBSpam Awards.Virus Bulletin staff tested FortiMail along with 22 other antispam products from multiple countries for spam catch rates and false positive rates. In addition to winning its 14th consecutive award, the report noted that FortiMail had just one false positive out of 4,300 sent to the appliance and that the device's spam catch rate has improved.
