Developer Preview of Wakanda Platform Released by 4D

A public Developer Preview 2 of Wakanda has been released by 4D Inc. Wakanda is the first end-to-end JavaScript Web and mobile application development platform. Apart from increasing their productivity, developers are able to build business applications efficiently and quickly with Wakanda.

In a release, Laurent Ribardière, creator of Wakanda, said, "With Wakanda, we're bringing the development of business applications in JavaScript to a whole new level. It's the first platform that integrates all the necessary different JS components to develop, manage and run applications. We look forward to getting some really useful feedback from the community over the next few months as we refine the product."

Development tools and a client framework are provided by the unique end-to-end solution, Wakanda. The solution also provides a back-end server and a data-store. All client frameworks along with top databases, servers and development tools can be integrated and supported with the solution’s completely open product architecture.

A super-rapid datastore and an HTTP server are provided by the faceless server which runs at the core of Wakanda. A home for all the application's business logic is also provided. Both front-end and back-end development is done using the JavaScript programming language. The deployment of applications in the cloud is also facilitated by Wakanda. Both development and deployment in the cloud will be allowed in the future through a PaaS solution.

Developers who want an efficient way to leverage Web standards will find Wakanda ideal. Business critical applications for the Web or mobile platforms can be therefore created by developers. The best technology, standards-based tools, interfaces, languages and communication protocols are incorporated by the productive development platform, Wakanda.

Ribardière said, "Over the next few weeks, we will make several significant open source contributions to the JavaScript community with new server side projects."

Modern browsers are compatible with the applications built with Wakanda. These include Android (News - Alert), iOS and other smartphone mobile devices. Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer 9 compatibility is also provided.

The Wakanday conference on October 15 will unveil Wakanda Developer Preview 2. A free download on the Wakanda web site http://wakanda.org will be available for Mac, Windows, and Linux versions.
