The Linux Foundation Adds Seven More Members from Europe

The Linux Foundation (News - Alert), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting open-source software technologies, announced that seven Europe-based companies such as Codethink, KeyPoint Technologies (News - Alert), Lanedo, Meinberg Funkuhren, Picochip, Puzzle ITC and RPA RusBITech are joining the organization.

The main objective of these companies is to collaborate on advancing Linux across industries and throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

“We are inspired by the support and collaboration from companies throughout the world. Today we're happy to welcome our newest members from Europe,” said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer programs at The Linux Foundation, in a statement.

The new members recognize the opportunities to maximize investments in Linux by contributing to this community.

Codethink, one of the new members, is helping system integrators to harness the power of Linux and open source developer stacks.

The U.K.-based KeyPoint Technologies hosts the open source community project OpenAdaptxt, a next-generation text input platform and standard.

Meinberg Funkuhren is a German-based developer and manufacturer of electronic devices and systems for time and frequency synchronization and distribution.

The German-based Lanedo, a software consultancy firm, is offering services to companies in Europe, Asia and the United States. The company's developers contribute to major open source projects such as NetworkManager, Tracker, WebKit, LibreOffice, GTK+ and GIMP.

The U.K.-based Picochip provides technology products that enable new types of cellular communications service.

Puzzle ITC, an open source service provider based in Switzerland, provides individual software and systems projects, almost exclusively with open technologies and standards.

RPA RusBITech, based in Russia, uses Linux and open source software to help manufacture complex training systems for a new generation of information and automation systems, decision support systems and domestic software general-purpose development.

Recently, the Linux Foundation announced the release of IAccessible2 for Windows under the BSD license and AccProbe, a new desktop application testing tool as well as AccProbe, a new desktop application testing tool.
