Mossi & Ghisolfi Selects Verizon's Enterprise Cloud to Deliver Critical Business Applications

Telecom major Verizon (News - Alert) announced that Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G), a global chemical engineering company, is using Verizon's enterprise cloud to deliver critical business applications.

M&G relies on Verizon’s global communications network to link manufacturing and R&D facilities in Europe, North and South America. The company had outsourced key IT resources, viewing the role of its internal IT team primarily as driving and supporting the change.

Additional growth prompted M&G to look for more a robust cloud platform. M&G decided on the secured enterprise cloud solution, delivered by Deloitte and Verizon, as the foundation for its new business IT environment.

“Moving these business-critical applications to the cloud can be seen as a brave move, but it's one that is already bringing benefit to our business,” said Marco Zanussi, CIO of M&G, in a statement. “We wanted to better align our technology to support our business goals. Positioning Verizon's enterprise cloud within the context of an experienced partner-management ecosystem was an obvious choice.”

The Verizon cloud enterprise assisted M&G to have a more scalable infrastructure that enables just-in-time delivery. The company could also ensure a cost model that reflects actual usage rather than peak traffic flow.

Moreover, M&G could quantify the cost benefits. M&G is expecting that the cloud will deliver a reduction of between 5 and 9 percent in power consumption by the end of this year.

Verizon's enterprise cloud platform supports the delivery of key business applications, including SAP (News - Alert) business intelligence, enterprise resource planning and enterprise application integration, to 550 key users around the globe.  

Recently, Verizon announced it is partnering with smart grid provider eMeter to develop and deliver a cloud-based meter data management offering for the utility industry. The partnership will help meet utility needs for advanced smart grid solutions with built-in security, reliability and new capabilities.
