Juniper Unveils Industry's Highest Edge Routing Capacity

Looking to cater to increasing bandwidth requirements, Juniper Networks (News - Alert) has introduced the industry's highest edge routing capacity.

Juniper's service provider, content delivery and enterprise customers can easily and reliably scale their networks today while future-proofing the network edge to accommodate tomorrow's requirements with increased capacity of 3.8 Terabits per second on Juniper Networks MX 3D Universal Edge Routers. The capacity upgrade applies to all MX Series services, including Juniper's MobileNext, the industry's first open mobile core for next-generation wireless networks, the company stated in a press release.

“Cloud and mobile computing are driving ever-higher demands on the network, and the MX Series is the industry's only edge routing platform that can scale with these new requirements while delivering lower total operating expenses," said Stefan Dyckerhoff (News - Alert), executive vice president and general manager for the Platform Systems Division at Juniper Networks. "Juniper's edge routing solutions have proven to be the industry's most efficient across multiple metrics, including power, cooling, density, reliability and scalability.”

Further extending the unparalleled decade-long investment protection of Juniper's Universal Edge portfolio, the new level of throughput requires only an in-service switch fabric upgrade to existing MX Series chassis. To accommodate the growth of network services at the edge with improved subscriber management, MX Series chassis is unified, converged open network architecture. The MX Series delivers the industry's only single platform optimized for the convergence of business, residential and mobile services delivery with a single, open operating system, Junos, as an integral part of Juniper's Universal Edge solution.

Recently, the company confirmed its Intrusion (News - Alert) Detection and Prevention (IDP) security systems and Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) firewall/virtual private network (VPN) systems with IDP offer protection for new Microsoft (News - Alert) vulnerabilities.
