Fusion-io SureErase Tool Meets the Sanitization Standards Set by Department of Defense

Fusion-io (News - Alert), a provider of shared data decentralization, announced its new SureErase data sanitization tool meets the Department of Defense sanitization standards set by the Defense Information Systems Agency (News - Alert) (DISA).

Leveraging SureErase, users can securely remove data on any ioMemory-based technology, following DoD/NIST standards, regardless of capacity, in less than one minute.

“Given the importance of data security for both public and private institutions, we are pleased to be able to offer our customers storage memory technologies that deliver industry-leading performance as well as mission-critical data protection validated by the Department of Defense,” said Neil Carson, chief technology officer, in a Fusion-io, in a statement.

“As both military and civilian operations become more data intensive, accelerating application performance is critical, but data security remains equally crucial to protecting our nation and allies,” Carson added.

The DISA Multinational Information Sharing Program Management Office (MNIS PMO) conducted testing of Fusion-io SureErase. After the testing, DISA confirmed that a Fusion ioDrive was sanitized in accordance with the NSA/CSS (News - Alert) Storage Device Declassification Manual and declassified from a secret to unclassified environment.

Recently, Fusion-io announced its ioCache solution customized to deliver Fusion Powered performance for the virtualization of data-intensive enterprise applications in VMware environments, including environments that use vMotion.

The ioCache bundle features a new purpose-built ioMemory product dedicated to accelerating Fusion's ioTurbine virtualization caching software, company officials said.
