Offering the first ever "AT&T (News
- Alert) Fan Fave Contest," AT&T has joined hands with The Brooklyn Book Festival, which takes place from September 15-18, 2011, the company has announced.
To be donated to the literary or literacy charities of their choosing, the three authors with the most votes will receive cash prizes. The first place author will receive $3,500; second place, $2,500; third place, $1,500. Fans have the opportunity to vote for any of the 260 authors participating in the Brooklyn Book Festival. During the week after the completion of the Festival, the author with the most fan votes will be announced.
“AT&T is proud to sponsor the 'Fan Fave Contest' as a way to honor the Festival's top authors and their favorite charities," said Tom DeVito, vice president and general manager of AT&T in New York and New Jersey. "With an impressive lineup, featuring so many Pulitzer Prize winners and dozens of leading novelists, poets and non-fiction writers, it's easy to see why the Brooklyn Book Festival is one of the city's premier literary events.”
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz started the Brooklyn Book Festival in 2006. It's now in its sixth year and apart from featuring venues inside historic Borough Hall, St. Francis College and the Brooklyn Historical Society, it will again feature outdoor stages at Borough Hall Plaza. Apart from readings on an outdoor main stage facing Borough Hall's historic marble steps, programming will also include panels, the company stated in a press release.
